In or out.
Eleven years ago we were all over visiting my parents and left the kids with my mother while we went to look around the town.
14 was 3 then, dur. Like you can’t do math. Anyway.
When I came back to the house my mother says to me, “your daughter was telling me off”.
Seems granny had been baking and of course we ALL know that you can’t open a door in the kitchen if there is something in the oven. [Shut it.]
So Mum is in the kitchen baking and 3 is wandering in and out to talk to her. After a while, I bet it wasn’t long because I remember this mantra from when I was little, Mum says to her,
“Make up your mind, in or out.”
What does 3 say to her?
“Grandma, can’t you be nice to people?”
Poor Mum, and 14. Neither of them have heard the end of this since. At least Mum knew she was being odd about the door.
Also, that’s my girl.
