Things that have happened to me in the last however many months …

I’ve been ill.

One day I noticed I couldn’t quite think through things as I had.

One day I noticed that if I bent and then got up, or turned quickly, or rubbed my eyes, or rolled my eyes I saw bright lights.

Then months later I noticed that when I woke in the mornings it was taking longer and longer to see anything apart from blackness with yellow lights.

The whooshing in my ears was more pronounced and my memory was getting worse and worse. So was my thinking.

Then I went to the optician.

She took some pictures of the back of my eyes and refused to let me go home.

So I went to the hospital where they weren’t impressed it had taken me so long to come to see them.

I had a scan a few days later, no problem there, so that was something.

Cut out the rest of the malarkey, suffice to say, back and forth till one day I couldn’t actually lift my head for crying, sat in the waiting area till 3 am, finally got a trolley, two days later they tried six times to do a lumbar puncture to no avail.

The day after they let out a LOT of fluid. Apparently it is supposed to be between 5 and 15 whatevers, mine was over 40. Now it’s 23 and I’m on altitude sickness tablets. I have benign intracranial hypertension.

But - I AM getting better. 

The news at first was that the best hope was the nothing would get worse but the last appointment showed some improvement in my optic discs, that had been swollen due to the fluid.

I have another CT at the end of this month and another appointment with ophthalmics at the beginning of March, then back to the neurologist June/July time. 

Let’s hope the progress continues.

So, that’s where I’ve been, that’s why online activity has been sporadic at best and that’s why I haven’t been particularly engaged with anyone or anything.
