A stupid thing happens to me near the end of December

Every single year on December 21st I decide we are heading towards Summer. It’s what keeps me going. I hate the short dark days, give me sunshine, I need it. I insist I see the days lengthening even though it is only a little each day, then again, the sun set at 5.30 p.m. here yesterday, two full hours later than on that shortest day, so something is happening.

The other side to this is, I decide Winter is over. Yes, I know, I don’t get to decide that, but I do.

I spend January in a sort of daze, the only thing I notice is if it rains and watching the sunsets to see how much more day we get with each one.

All this would be fine - apart from the cold. It is perishing. I am completely frozen, I don’t REMEMBER EVER being this cold.

If you take someone who likes the sun and add in medication for too much brain fluid which turns out to be the same stuff they give people going up Everest I am FROZEN all the time. My hands are always blue, I can never find enough heat and as if that isn’t enough the pins and needles would drive a stronger person than me clear out of their mind.

So here I am, on the second of February, completely non-plussed that it isn’t a warm day because we ARE HEADING TOWARDS SUMMER. That was the agreement. With me. In my own head.

Clearly I don’t affect the weather just yet, but I’ll get to work on that, just as soon as I warm up my frozen little paws.
